Paris Hilton Insists She Did Not Deserve To Go To Jail

Paris Hilton attends Project E “Feed The Models Save The World” to benefit EDIN (Eating disorders information network) event held at the Parc Restaurant on July 24, 2007 in Hollywood, California.

“The crime did not fit the punishment. I did not deserve to go to jail,” she said in her first TV interview.

But the blonde socialite admitted her 23 days behind bars had changed her life for ever. She said prison was a “blessing in disguise” and had forced her to take a long, hard look at her life.

Speaking on CNN’s Larry King Live, the 26-year-old told how she feared she was going to be attacked and suffered panic attacks that left her sobbing uncontrollably.

But she said the prison experience had changed her life.

“This is a new beginning for me,” said Paris Hilton. “It was a traumatic experience but I feel like God does make everything happen for a reason.” Hilton was jailed for 45 days after driving on a suspended licence following a drink-drive conviction in Los Angeles.

Appearing subdued during the hour long interview, she admitted she was shocked when the judge ordered her to be locked up. “I was walking in there assuming I was just going to get community
service.” She was locked up for 23 hours a day in an 8ft x 12ft cell in Lynwood, California.
